AUSTIN (KXAN) — A long-distance swimmer raising money for dolphin conservation gets some potentially life-saving protection from the very animals he’s trying to save.

Adam Walker was swimming off the coast of New Zealand when a pod of dolphins formed a circle of security around him to scare off a lurking shark, according to the NY Post.

The dolphins stayed with Walker for more than an hour until the shark went away and swam around him playfully during his charity ocean swim, getting close enough for him to touch at times.

Walker is on a quest to become the first British man to conquer the Oceans Seven, a group of seven long-distance swims around the world, per NY Post.
