QUAPAW, Okla. (CNN/KYTV) — A deadly tornado touched down in northeastern Oklahoma.

The National Weather Service and local responders say two people were killed in Quapaw.

Several buildings in the town near the borders with Kansas and Missouri were damaged.

Tornadoes were reported in several states as a powerful weather system moved east across the country.

In Arkansas, Interstate 40 was shut down after a twister touched down in Mayflower.
