Woman dead after car crashes into tree

AUSTIN (KXAN) – A woman in her 20s was killed Sunday evening after her vehicle crashed into a tree in Northwest Travis County.

Jennifer Renee Simpson, a 26-year-old woman from Leander, was driving Southwest in the 13400 block of FM 2769 in her 2002 Chevy Cavalier when she veered off the right side of the road. She crashed into a tree that was approximately six feet from the roadway at 7:15 p.m., according to DPS.

Austin-Travis County EMS said Simpson was the only person in the vehicle and no other cars were involved. According to emergency medical personnel, she died on scene.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the cause of the crash.
