KYLE, Texas (KXAN) — Following a 6 hour search, authorities arrested an inmate who escaped from the Kyle Correctional Center in Hays County Saturday.
Officials say 34-year-old Kendrick Rishard Davis escaped from the facility at about 2:15 p.m..
Authorities took Davis into custody at around 8:00 Saturday evening in a wooded area near the intersection of Old Post Road and RM150, several hundred yards from the facility.
Guards witnessed Davis jumping over a fence wearing only white boxers and one shoe Saturday afternoon. When authorities found Davis, he was completely naked.
Davis was convicted of two counts of aggravated robbery in Dallas County in 1996. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
A DPS helicopter and search dog spent Saturday afternoon looking for Davis. Kyle PD, the Hays County Sheriff’s office, and Texas Department of Criminal Justice were also involved with the search.
The Kyle Correctional Center is a minimum security facility operated by MTC and houses offenders who are receiving substance treatment.
