KXAN meteorologist secures master’s degree with hurricane research

The KXAN News family is celebrating a major accomplishment with KXAN meteorologist David Yeomans.

On Thursday, the weekend morning meteorologist successfully defended his thesis research on hurricanes at the University of Miami, securing his Masters of Science in Meteorology & Physical Oceanography.

David researched hurricane formation and was a guest scientist aboard a NOAA Hurricane Hunter flight. He was invited to present his research at the American Meteorological Society’s annual tropical convention in April 2012, and then again at the general AMS meeting in January 2013.

After Hurricane Katrina ravaged New Orleans in 2005, David helped rebuild the upper-Ninth Ward neighborhood with Habitat for Humanity, serving as an assistant carpenter.

David holds the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal from the American Meteorological Society.

Congratulations David!
