Severe weather threatens to wash-out weekend events

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas guardsmen at Camp Mabry were looking up on Friday, but they weren’t watching for rain…not yet.

These soldiers and crews from several law enforcement agencies are preparing for this weekend’s ‘American Heroes Air Show’, no matter the weather.

“The few considerations we have to look at is the parachute demonstration,” said Lt. Col. Les Davis, Camp Mabry Garrison Commander. “Weather permitting, we will jump. If the weather is not good we will certainly consider the safety of that particular demonstration.”

Austin Food and Wine Festival organizers say they have connections with the highest authority.

“So what I did is I had a phone call with Mother Nature last night,” said Tim Love of the Austin Food and Wine Festival. “So I got it all set up. We’re good, rain or shine, baby. Rain of shine we’re good.”

There’s a positive attitude at the Lake Travis Springfest, happening this weekend at the Backyard.

“Even if it’s detrimental to our festival, we’d rather see the lake fill up, so come on rain,” said Will Mitchell with Lake Travis Springfest. “Come out to the festival. We’re going to have a good time, and if you get a little wet, that’s alright too.” provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
