AUSTIN (KXAN) — Loch Ness Monster aficionados are going crazy over a recent discovery that can only be seen on Apple Map’s satellite imagery – Nessie herself.

The Loch Ness Monster, or Nessie as she’s affectionately called among fans, is a creature similar to a dinosaur who is rumored to live in Loch Ness, Scotland although she has never been discovered or documented by scientists. Until now, that is.

Mashable reported members of the Official Loch Ness Monster Fan Club first identified a 100-foot long shadow with two “flipper-like” appendages in the waters of the loch on Apple Map’s satellite imagery. The same shadow was not visible on Google Maps.

The two satellite imagery providers do not take their photographs at the same time, which explains why the shadowy figure would be visible on one source and not the other, but many argue the image could just be the outline of a boat and its wake since companies usually delete identifying information.

What do you think? Has Apple Maps uncovered the Loch Ness Monster at last?
