The diver from the Navy’s Sea Salvage and Rescue Unit used a hammer specifically customized for this rescue operation.

Bad weather and poor visibility hampered the search after the ferry sank off South Korea’s coast last Wednesday.

The death toll from the disaster rose above 100 Tuesday.

Of the 476 people on board, 174 were rescued after the ferry capsized and sank.

Meanwhile, nearly 200 people remain missing.
