Pflugerville teacher resigns amid racial slur allegations

PFLUGERVILLE, Texas (KXAN) — Mark Stamp has resigned as science and physics teacher at Pflugerville High School, according to the school district.

Pflugerville Independent School District officials confirmed they received reports from students last week that the 57-year-old teacher used racial slurs directed at minority students.

One student told KXAN the teacher was mad, and started “using names he shouldn’t be using. He used the N-word, and then there was a lot of shouting.”

Another student said he “couldn’t believe Stamp said it.”

The district said in a statement that Stamp had worked within the district for only one year. They said as soon as they learned of the allegation, Stamp was placed on administrative leave, and they started an investigation. Before the investigation was complete, Stamp tendered his own resignation.

District officials say Stamp had received no complaints until now. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
