AUSTIN (KXAN) — Southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 183 reopened after a motorcyclist was killed after losing control and crashing on Friday, police said.

Witnesses said the man, who was in his 20s, was driving at a high rate of speed before the crash.

The crash happened near Anderson Lane just before 10 a.m. Friday, just west of Interstate 35. No other cars were involved.

Austin-Travis County EMS medics said their attempts to resuscitate the man at the scene were unsuccessful.
