Drop-top Mustang sits on top of Empire State Building

(CNN/WPIX) — A 2015 Ford Mustang convertible has been positioned on the 86th floor observation deck of the Empire State Building.

According to Wired, Thursday marks the Mustang’s 50th anniversary.

“Ford pulled the same stunt with the original Mustang, but five decades of technological advancements haven’t made it any easier to pull off,” posted Wired.

The deck is reportedly 1,000 feet up, so using a crane was out of the question, and Wired says the building’s tall spire rules out lowering the car from a helicopter.

So, just as they did in 1965, Ford had automotive wizards chop it up into six pieces for the ride and then reassemble it in the wee hours of the morning, per Wired.
