VATICAN CITY (NBC/EBU) — Two boys got the chance of a lifetime as Pope Francis toured a sunny Saint Peter’s Square Wednesday.
They were invited to take a ride in the Popemobile.
The pontiff greeted the faithful as he rode through a crowd in Saint Peter’s Square before his weekly general audience.
During the tour, he asked a group of scholars if any of them wanted to hop in the Popemobile and take a ride.
Two young passengers jumped in without hesitation, and they joined the pontiff as he made his way through Saint Peter’s Square.
Later, Pope Francis talked to the crowd about Jesus Christ’s passion.
Pope Francis is preparing to celebrate Easter Sunday this weekend, which — according to Christian belief — celebrates the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
