Bicyclist injured in crash on Lavaca Street

Bicyclist struck by CapMetro bus on Lavaca

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A bicyclist is in the hospital after he fell from his bike while riding on Lavaca Street near 16th Street on Wednesday afternoon.

Austin police said the crash happened around 5:30 p.m.

Initial information indicates the Capital Metro bus struck the bicyclist, but that was not the case.

According to a CapMetro spokesperson, the bus did not hit the cyclist but he apparently fell near the bus. The bicyclist was taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge with non-life threatening injuries.
