AUSTIN (KXAN) — Special Olympics Texas and LatinWorks launch their “We See Abilities” campaign on April 14th.
With the Special Olympics Summer Games happening June 6-7, the Special Olympics have the huge challenge of raising awareness.
Right now, only 7 percent of eligible athletes compete, with fewer than 2 percent being Hispanic.
Parents of children with developmental and cognitive disabilities tend to worry their children cannot compete or that a disability is something
to apologize for.
Austin based ad agency LatinWorks worked with California-based artist and photographer Queenie Liao to create a magical “We See Abilities.” campaign.
Queenie is famous for her photos of her sleeping son around wild backdrops that she made on the carpet with household items. This was Queenie’s first campaign beyond shooting her son.
