Man took off in stolen vehicle after robbing bank

AUSTIN (KXAN) –Austin police are still searching for a man who robbed the First Lockhart National Bank in South Austin on Monday morning.

The call came in around 11 a.m. for the robbery at 319 West Slaughter Lane.

Police say the man entered the bank, displayed a note, then demanded money and fled the scene. Authorities said the man took off east down Slaughter Lane towards Interstate 35.

Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic male, approximately 5’8″ and weighing 200 pounds. He has a white goatee and was last seen wearing a plaid shirt and jeans.

Officials say he fled the the scene in a Toyota 4Runner with the license plate number “BFB5042.” Police say the vehicle was reported stolen earlier.
