Man possibly struck by lightning hospitalized

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man who may have been hit by lightning has been hospitalized with serious injuries, according to Austin-Travis County EMS.

EMS officials said the possible lightning strike happened at 2300 Singleton Ave., where medics declared a “trauma alert” on a sanitation worker. They took him to Round Rock Medical Center with serious injuries.

Cloud-to-ground lightning and heavy downpours are headed toward Westlake, West Austin and the University of Texas as severe weather rolls through the area, including quarter-size hail and winds gusting at 60 mph.
