Group offering free help with tax prep

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The clock is ticking for folks to finish their taxes and one group spent Sunday helping people file for free.

Volunteers with non-profit Foundation Communities are preparing taxes for people with low and moderate incomes. They hope to help thousands of people make the April 15th deadline.

“For many low and moderate income families, the refunds they receive could be several thousand dollars and could be the largest amount of cash or income that they receive throughout the year,” Emily Carpenter, manager of the Community Tax Center said. “So, it’s a hugely important service for the community.”
