SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) — Police are investigating a suspicious death after they found a 23-year-old woman dead, and a man she lived with suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Authorities and medics were called to the man’s home in the 1300 block of Barbara Drive on Friday about 1 a.m., after the 25-year-old told 911 dispatchers he had been shot.

The man was transported to University Medical Center Brackenridge in Austin where he was treated and released a few hours later.

Justice of the Peace Margie Hernandez ordered an autopsy of the woman and San Marcos police are not releasing any details on the cause of death until they know the results of the autopsy conducted by the Travis County Medical Examiner. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
