FUKUI PREFECTURE, Japan (NBC/EBU) — Life-size, mechanical models are bringing dinosaurs to life at a roadside station in Central Japan.
With the coming of spring, the Tyrannosaurus Rex and its offspring are once again on display in Fukui Prefecture.
The 40-foot-long and 15-foot-long models are moved to a nearby warehouse every fall to avoid damage caused by snow.
Local officials put them back on display Thursday. Children from a local nursery welcomed them back.
Japanese broadcaster NHK said a fossilized tooth of a carnivorous dinosaur was discovered near where the dinosaurs were on display.
They’ll greet tourists at the station until November.
