Storm levels support paddock at COTA

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Monday night’s storm packed rain, hail and high winds that brought damage to Central Texas, including the Circuit of The Americas track.

The storm leveled the support paddock at the track, and the plaza also sustained quite a bit of damage.

Officials say they’re still assessing the damage to make sure everyone is safe, adding that they will rebuild ahead of this weekend’s MotoGP race. The race events for the premier motorcycle racing World Championship begin Friday and run through Sunday. The eighteen-race series visits thirteen countries, four continents and has panglobal television coverage.
