Man arrested following standoff

A man was arrested shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday, several hours after police said he barricaded himself in a Northwest Austin home on Tweed Court, near US 183.

At about 10:45 Friday night, police received a 911 call from a family member who ran to a neighbor’s home. The caller said they were involved in a disturbance in the home and that the other subject had weapons he was threatening to use. The APD SWAT team was called to the scene.

Police say the intoxicated male subject was arrested for Aggravated Assault  with a Deadly Weapon. The man displayed a weapon, which caused his mother fear for her safety, according to APD officials.

The northbound 183 service road and Oak Knoll exit were closed during the incident. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
