It may be spring, but Austin ISD police and APD are getting ready for summer. The 2014 G.R.E.A.T. Summer Camp is not far away. Corporal Lance Cox with AISD PD joined Erin Cargile on KXAN News Today Saturday to discuss the camp and its mission.

About 3,000 Austin ISD fourth graders completed the program during the 2013-2014 school year.

The program’s lessons focus on goal-setting, anger management, bullying, fitness, healthy eating and pride in the community.

The camp for South Austin students is July 7-11 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

The camp for North Austin students is July 14-18 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Organizers say it will cost about $7000 to run the camp.
