Full scale emergency response drill at ABIA

AUSTIN (KXAN) Austin-Bergstrom International airport will hold a full scale exercise on Wednesday.

It will provide emergency responders the chance to practice their skills, using an actual aircraft.

The Federal Aviation Administration requires emergency responders to train every three years for any type of emergency.

The exercise will involve aircraft, fire fighting, and medical services vehicles and responders.

Volunteers are playing the of aircraft incident victims and will simulate injuries.

They hope to improve the speed at which responders get their command post up and communication going.

Wednesday’s drill will start at 1 p.m.
