KAUFMAN, Texas (AP) — An 85-year-old woman has been found dead in her North Texas home after she apparently was attacked by her son’s pit bulls inside the house.

Kaufman police on Tuesday identified the victim as Dorothy Hamilton. An autopsy has been ordered.

Capt. Ed Black says it appears two large, very aggressive dogs attacked Hamilton. Investigators seized eight pit bulls, including the two dogs suspected in the attack discovered Monday afternoon.

Black says the woman’s adult son also lives at the home, the dogs are his and the animals had been kept inside the residence for several months. The dogs were in a bedroom but apparently broke through a door to reach the victim. Her body was in the living room.

Nobody has been charged.

Kaufman is 30 miles southeast of Dallas.
