Meteorologist David Yeomans takes a spin in an F1 car

Meteorologist David Yeomans took a ride in an F1 car at COTA Saturday

Zero to sixty in 1.8 seconds flat… sounds like fun, right?

Meteorologist David Yeomans took a ride in the side seat of an F-1 car out at the Circuit of the Americas Saturday afternoon.

He was at the track as a part of “Ride, Drive, Give” — an event benefiting the Center for Child Protection. For a donation, thrill seekers could ride in a modified F1 car that has three seats, or drive their pick of exotic cars – from Ferraris to Lamborghinis and Mercedes.

When he’s not in a fire-proof racing suit, David works as part of the First Warning Weather Team. You can see his forecasts Saturday and Sunday mornings on KXAN News Today, and Monday through Wednesday on KXAN News at Noon. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
