Austin Animal Center overcrowded

Austin (KXAN)- Austin Animal Center officials say dogs and cats at the center are in desperate need of homes. The center’s overcrowding is so extreme that more than 60 of the animals are without kennels.

Rescue groups like Austin Pets Alive, which usually take in the shelter’s extra animals, are also at full capacity.

Adoption rates will be lowered to $35 per animal until Sunday, March 30. AAC is open from 11 a.m.–7 p.m. every day of the week and is located on 7201 Levander Loop. It’s considered the largest no-kill shelter in the nation.
