Wild West gunslinger Wyatt Earp’s guns up for sale

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (CNN/KPHO) — The owner of an Arizona auction house says pretty soon you could own Wyatt Earp’s gun.

J. Levine Auction and Appraisal in Scottsdale is auctioning off items said to have belonged to the legendary Wild West gunslinger.

The auction house owner says the collection includes Earp’s shotgun and the gun he used at the OK Corral Gunfight.

They come from the estate of author Glenn Boyer.

Some Earp historians have cast doubt on the credibility of Boyer’s writing’s on Earp and the authenticity of his Earp collection.

The serial number on the Corral gun has also been destroyed.

Bidding happens April 17.
