North Lamar hit-and-run killed 66-year-old man


AUSTIN (KXAN) — Police are still looking for the person responsible in the hit-and-run on North Lamar Boulevard that killed Danny Wayne Worly, 66.

Worly was reportedly heading west — walking across the southbound lanes of North Lamar Boulevard near Payton Gin Road — on Monday evening when a pickup heading south in the left lane hit him. It happened in the 9200 block of Lamar Boulevard just after 9 p.m., according to police.

Witnesses told police the driver was in a red Ford pickup truck, which didn’t stop but instead took off.

EMS crews took Worly to University Medical Center Brackenridge, but police said he died a short time later.
