SALADO, Texas (KXAN) — Interstate 35 will be closed to all traffic through Salado starting at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The closure will run through 7 a.m. Thursday.

The Texas Department of Transportation says heavy delays are expected as crews place bridge beams for the new Thomas Arnold Bridge.

All northbound traffic will be forced off the freeway at Exit 283 (FM 2268/FM 2843) and onto the frontage road. Vehicles will re-enter I-35 just north of Main Street.

Southbound traffic will be moved off the interstate at Exit 285 (FM 2268/Main Street) and be allowed back on south of FM 2268.

During the closure, crossings at Main Street and FM 2268 in Salado will also be closed to facilitate a smooth flow of traffic, TxDOT says.
