ATTLEBORO, Mass. (CNN/WCVB) — A Massachusetts family is shocked when they discover a deer stuck on the family’s white picket fence.

“We looked outside and we thought it was huge,” said Grant Kelley. “And I looked at it and saw fur on it. And I’m like, ‘Uh, OK. This is weird.’”

This deer trying to jump a picket fence behind the Kelley family’s Attleboro home on Colleen Way had a tough morning.

Mom was in shock.

“Oh, my gosh,” said Kate Kelley. “So I peered over the other side of the fence, and it revealed the whole rest of the body of the deer. And it was kind of looking at me like, ‘Help. What do I do?’ So I immediately called for my husband.”

Brian Kelley realized the deer’s legs weren’t broken — just stuck – so he removed the problem picket.

“The pickets just pop right up,” he said. “So I was able to free it by creating enough space that I could get one leg free, and then I used my shoulder to push the other leg through.”

Brian had one thing on his mind.

“All I cared about was protecting my face and not ending up with a broken nose,” he said.
