AUSTIN (KXAN) — Coffeehouse and music venue Flipnotics closed its doors for good on Monday.

flipnotics2The closure is due to a lease disagreement between the coffeehouse’s owner and the landlord. But, former employee Chase Wilford said there weren’t many disagreements in the workplace.

“When I walked in the door of Flipnotics, I immediately know this was the place I wanted to work,” Wilford said. “You can immediately tell it’s that kind of local business that really cares about the community whether it be the staff, the customers, you know it’s a family.”

The customers shared Wilford’s enthusiasm for the establishment.flipnotics3

“I’m heartbroken. I love Austin moving in the direction that it’s moving, but I think it has to leave space for establishments like these that really appeal to families,” Ana Pedrosa, a regular Flipnotics customer said. “I came with my dog, I came with my little boy. I was a safe place to hear music, it’s really sad.” provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
