City officials seek post-event evaluation of SXSW

AUSTIN (KXAN) — City officials are asking for a full-scale review of South by Southwest, in an effort to make changes for next year.

Councilman Mike Martinez introduced the resolution that would look at capacity issues at venues, queuing on the streets and free alcohol at events, among several other issues. Officials are looking for feedback from festival stakeholders and festival-goers alike on how to resolve problems that may have led to the deadly SXSW crash that killed three people and left several others injured.

The resolution also calls on the Music and Urban Transportation Commissions to hold public meetings and gather feedback for the council before they make any code changes. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
