Austin schools kick off Youth Art Month

Austin (KXAN) – More than 1,500 kids’ pieces of art graces the halls of one downtown office building.

113 AISD schools are participating in this year’s Youth Art Month which kicked off Sunday.

Students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade designed the pieces.

Teachers are on the lookout throughout the year for pieces that should be displayed.

“We pick the cream of the crop,” said art director Kristen Marstaller. “They look all year long and watch and encourage the children to do a good job.”

They’ll be on display at the One Congress Plaza building at Cesar Chavez and Congress each weekday from seven a-m to seven p-m and on Saturdays from 9a.m. until 1p.m. through April 14th.
