Arson investigators looking into overnight house fire

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Three children and an adult lost their home after a fire in Southeast Austin Thursday night.

The Austin Fire Department got a call from neighbors at 11:30 p.m. about a house on 4407 Dovewood Drive. When they arrived, firefighters saw heavy smoke and flames in the back of the house but managed to knock down the fire in less than 10 minutes.

Firefighters estimate the flames caused $108,000 in damages. The people who lived in the house were not there when the fire started, and nobody was hurt.

Officials have not said what caused the fire. They are looking into whether arson may have played a role. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
