Dobie Theater’s sequel takes shape near UT Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Film fans rejoice: The Dobie Theater will re-open.

The Carlton Group, an international real estate investment banking firm, is behind the resurrection, four years after Landmark Theatres let their lease expire.

The group has not set a timeline for opening, however, saying the four-screen theater needs new seating and other renovations. The Carlton Group is also looking for an operating group to bring in first-run films.

Previously, the Dobie was primarily an arthouse theater, primarily screening independent films and documentaries.
