Fourth suspect arrested in Burnet kidnapping case

BURNET, Texas (KXAN) — A fourth person has been arrested in a case where a woman was beaten and kept captive in a Burnet house for nearly a year.

On Tuesday, Burnet police issued two warrants for the arrest of Jamie Cal Martin, 38, of Burnet, for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Aggravated Kidnapping.

Burnet police said Martin fled to Houston and Corsicana but Corsicana police were able to locate him and take him into custody.

Last week, authorities arrested Charlotte Arms, 40, Thomas Simon, 30, and Walker Shapland, 23, for keeping a woman in their house against her will as well as beating her.

Court documents revealed the suspects would use waterboarding and a paddle to beat the victim while she was tied to a bed.

Police suspect Martin, a registered sex offender, may have been living in the home during that period of time.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be pending.
