Texas women match up with Penn in NCAA tournament

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Texas women enter the NCAA Tournament as a No. 5 seed and will take on 12th-seeded Pennsylvania in the opening round on Sunday in College Park, Md.

The Longhorns enter the tournament at 21-11 overall after finishing fourth in the Big 12. Texas is coming off a 67-60 loss to No. 7 West Virginia in the conference semifinals.

Penn enters the dance at 20-8 overall and earned a spot in the field after winning the Ivy League’s automatic bid.

The Horns will take on the Quakers at 2 p.m. Sunday. The game will be broadcast on ESPN. This will be the first matchup between the two in program history.

The winner of the game will face the winner of No. 4 Maryland (24-6) and 13th-seeded Army (25-7).

Regional final games will be played in Louisville, Kent.
