AUSTIN (KXAN) — If you are looking to kick off the workweek by celebrating your Irish heritage — or someone else’s — there are plenty of events around town to help you do just that.

This year’s St. Patrick’s Day Austin is happening at the Shoal Crossing Event Center. Live music by Silver Thistle Pipes and Drums kick off the festivities at 3 p.m. Makem & Spain Brothers, Aidan, Girsa, and the Tea Merchants are also among the list of performers for Monday. The Shoal Crossing Event Center is located on North Mopac just south of U.S. Highway 183.

If you don’t want to wait until this evening to celebrate, Fado Irish Pub is hosting Austin’s biggest outdoor festival with doors opening at 6 a.m. The main events will begin at 2 p.m., and West Fourth Street will be taken over with a festival featuring dancers and live music to keep the good times and Irish luck rolling.

For those who want a hearty Irish meal along with a stout drink, North by Northwest is serving traditional Irish stew and soda bread. The meal should pair well with the special cask of Irish stout on tap along with Red Zeppelin Irish Red Ale. Of course, the food and drinks will be paired with live music and other Irish shenanigans.
