Austin-based band has guitars, gear and trailer stolen during SXSW

AUSTIN (KXAN) — On early Saturday morning, Austin-based rock band Driver Friendly awoke to discover their trailer had been stolen from one of the band member’s homes in South Austin.

“I woke up and thought maybe one of the other guys had picked it up,” said Drummer Jeremi Mattern. “It had 3 locks on it and would have been really difficult to move unless they had a flatbed trailer. They had to have gone through a lot of effort”

The trailer contained over $15,000 worth of gear, including a handcrafted Moniker Guitar, a custom unique floor tom, a vintage, antique coronet, several rare recording microphones, and over $4,000 in band merchandise among other items.

With only several weeks before the band is due to go on tour, they are asking for the public’s help in locating the lost gear.  The trailer is a Moss Creek 6×10 Enclosed Cargo Trailer with Texas plates 21760M. If anyone see’s the stolen trailer or any of the band’s unique merchandise they are asked to contact the Austin Police Department at: (512) 974-5000 or Driver Friendly at Driverfband@gmail.com.

In the meantime the band is trying to pick up the pieces and are directing fans to a donation site in order to help them replace some of the missing gear in order to get them on the road. If you’re interested in donating to help them out or want more information on the stolen gear you can go to: http://driverf.com/donate/.
