AUSTIN (KXAN) — If you are heading to the airport this week, you may actually see some delays because of South by Southwest swag.

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport officials tell us it’s happening in the checked luggage line.

They say there is so much swag stuffed in travelers’ bags that it becomes unidentifiable in the screening machine.

This is the busiest time of the year at the Austin airport as thousands of people descend on the city for SXSW.

The TSA said Wednesday if screeners can’t see what’s inside a bag or inside your luggage, extra screening is necessary. They recommend putting the swag in carry-on bags. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
