AUSTIN (KXAN) — Visitors in Austin for South By Southwest may have been a bit surprised today as gun rights advocates walked down Sixth Street and over to the Capitol carrying large rifles.

“It is a little different,” said Terry Donohue, who was visiting From Toronto. “It’s not something we’d see in a street in Toronto, of course.”

It is legal in the State of Texas to openly carry an antique revolver or a long rifle in public, as long as it is not in a threatening manner.”

“(We’re out here) to protect our rights…we constantly have people trying to take our rights,” said Justin Delosh with Come And Take It Austin. “But we don’t have too many people out there in the streets trying to actively engage with people and engage in a dialogue about our gun rights.”
