A family of four escaped an apartment fire in East Austin Saturday morning.

The Austin Fire Department told KXAN two adults and two children made it outside safely after flames broke out in their unit at the Wellington Palms Apartments. The complex is located in the 5800 block of Wellington Drive just west of Manor Road.

AFD Lt. Josh Portie said it took firefighters about 10 to 15 minutes to put out the flames inside a second story apartment. Most of the damage was contained to that unit, Portie said. But, other apartments sustained smoke and water damage.

There is no word yet on what started the fire.
