Strip mall fire started in ham restaurant

Officials say no one was injured in a strip mall fire early Saturday morning in Southeast Travis County.

Westlake Fire Department Chief Mike Elliott says the fire started in the kitchen of Texas Honey Ham Company before spreading to the roof of “The Forum” shopping center on Bee Caves Road and West Bank Drive.

About 60 firefighters from Westlake Fire Department and AFD battled the blaze and had it knocked down within 10 minutes.

Several businesses in the shopping center sustained water and smoke damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Texas Honey Ham is closed and expected to announce when they will reopen on Twitter and Facebook.
