North Austin restaurant goes up in flames

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Firefighters are trying to figure out what started a fire inside a North Austin restaurant Friday morning.

It happened around midnight at Kim Phung on North Lamar near U.S. Highway 183.

When crews got there, they found heavy smoke coming from the front and the back of the restaurant. The flames started in the kitchen, and it took about 20 minutes for crews to knock out the blaze.

Investigators and health department officials visited following the fire, which is normal in a restaurant fire.

Meanwhile, no one was hurt, and there is no word yet on what caused the blaze or how much repairs will cost.
