AUSTIN (KXAN) — Lady Gaga will bring hordes of her “little monsters” to a South by Southwest show on March 13.

The pop star made the announcement a week in advance, in a video released by Doritos early Thursday morning:

Doritos is reportedly bringing its Bold Stage to Stubb’s for the night, because the City of Austin denied a permit for the diva to play the company’s pop-up lot at 5th Street and Neches Street downtown, citing safety concerns.

Doritos has built a giant vending machine each of the last two years in the small parking lot of Carmelo’s Italian Restaurant at 504 E. Fifth Street.

The venue can only hold around 800 people, according to Austin Police Cmdr. William Manno.

L.L. Cool J, Ice Cube and Public Enemy performed on the stage last year. In an effort to block thousands of fans from trying to work their way into the event, Austin police had to line up several semi trucks along the road.

Lady Gaga is touring after releasing her new album Artpop in November.

There’s no ticket to buy, however.  Fans will only be able to get access by completing one of the Doritos “Bold Mission” challenges.

Amanda Alvarez and Rachael Jones were feeling feisty Thursday, so when they heard about Lady Gaga’s bold bravery contest, they had to make a “bold” decision, an admission for all to see on Facebook.

“I’m in an open relationship with my best friend,” said Alvarez. “So far people have liked it. A lot of ‘aww, you all make such a cute couple.'”

The show scheduled for next Thursday will be drawing a massive crowd, likely similar to the Metallica concert back in 2009. But nearby restaurant managers say bring on the masses.

“We even pulled from some of our other concepts from north and south Austin, and as far as San Marcos,” said David Pyle with Pelon and 508 Tequila Bar. “Come in and help us out.”

That’s the kinda party these two Gaga fans are looking forward to, if they get chosen.

“We better win and if we don’t, it’s over, were breaking up,” Jones said laughing.

“If we win, I promise I’ll take you,” said Alvarez. “You better!” Jones replied. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
