Financial trouble forces Toy Joy to close

Toy Joy will officially close on Sunday, March 9, 2014.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — After calling the Second Street District home for only eight months, Toy Joy will officially close its doors on Sunday night.

According to Toy Joy’s co-owner, Trevor Yopp, the bank foreclosed on their loan so they have no other option than to shutdown the business.

Yopp says they plan on staying open through the weekend and they hope customers will come out one last time.

Yopp indicated the closure had nothing to do with the new location and even said the location on Second Street was good for business.

Toy Joy called the corner of Guadalupe Street and West 29th Street home for 26 years before moving to Downtown back in June. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
