DNA test leads to arrest of child sex assault suspect

MANOR, Texas (KXAN) — A man charged with sexual assault of a child was taken into custody Friday after police say DNA evidence linked him to the crime.

Baryogar Chris Thompson was being held on $250,000 bond for the alleged sexual assault of a young girl in Manor in July 2013.

A joint investigation between the Travis County District Attorney’s Office, the Center for Child Protection, and sexual assault nurse examiners at Dell Children’s and St. David’s hospitals turned up evidence needed to detain Thompson.

Officers with the Manor and Austin police departments arrested Thompson on Feb. 28 after obtaining a warrant the day before.
