Water will be shut off at parks and trails

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Water will not be available at restrooms or water fountains at Austin parks until it gets a little warmer, according to the Austin Parks and Recreation Department.

The water pipes will be shut off to prevent damage from the freezing temperatures. They will be turned back on once temperatures stay above 32 degrees.

Parks and Recreation Department urges park patrons to wear layers of warm clothing, bring plenty of water and plan ahead for restroom breaks when using the parks and trails during the cold winter days.
