AUSTIN (KXAN)- An Austin group that helps kids celebrated a successful fundraiser on Sunday.
Big Brothers and Big Sisters of central Texas spent the evening bowling. It was a celebration for raising more than $160 thousand to support their mentoring programs.
The group says they’re on track to raise even more.
“This event is extremely popular,” said spokesperson Veronica Fox. “It’s a really creative, fun way for people to get together. Last year we raised $180,000, so we hope to achieve that again this year.”
The funds raised lets the Big Brothers and Big Sisters help about a thousand kids each year.
