Thieves targeting Allandale neighborhood, stealing bikes

Austin police

In the past month, the Allandale neighborhood in central Austin has seen an influx in bicycle thefts, according to the Austin Police Department.

Police said most of the bicycles have been stolen at night and from home garages and sheds.

Patrol officers in the area are aware of the problem and will make patrols through the neighborhoods as time allows.

Bicycle owners are encouraged to register their bike with APD and have the bicycle’s serial number in a database.
